Philosophy Mission Environmentalism

Mission

Our mission is to inspire a deep affinity for the natural world through the artistic medium of photography. Our customer service will be successful if we build lasting, mutually beneficial relationships with clients who know us for the highest levels of quality and reliability. Our products will be successful if they awaken a lasting passion for the subjects and places photographed.

Environmentalism

Kevin Sink Photography was founded in 1989 in an effort to fuse Kevin's photographic talent and his passion for the natural world into a synergistic promotion of conservation.

Kevin served on the board of directors of the Burroughs Audubon Society of Greater Kansas City for a number of years, then as president of the same organization. His time spent at the helm of that organization increased his desire to find new methods of inspiring fondness for the natural world. With that goal in mind, Kevin determined that his skills and passion were best served in capturing images of the natural landscape.

Throughout the years, Kevin Sink Photography has forged relationships with The Nature Conservancy the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve, the Konza Prairie and the Symphony in the Flinthills. We also support several other very worthwhile and efficient environmental organizations: The Environmental Defense Fund, The Natural Resources Defense Council, and of course the Audubon Society.

We strive to enact sustainable business practices whenever possible. We are proud that our media and equipment choices possess environmentally friendly qualities which increase the longevity and integrity of each print. We have made the following choices to reduce our environmental impact:

  • We are committed to office procedures and production processes which involve minimal waste and scrupulous efforts to recycle the majority of all leftover materials, including paper scraps, inkjet cartridges, plastic, cardboard, and aluminum. We go out of our way to reuse packaging materials. We use energy efficient fluorescent lighting wherever it would not compromise the viewing of prints. Our USPS mailing boxes are Cradle to Cradle certified for their material content, recyclability, and manufacturing characteristics.
  • Our matte finish watercolor paper is produced by the Crane Company and is composed of 100% recovered cotton fiber; therefore no trees are destroyed in its production. Crane purchases steam used for heating and papermaking from a nearby waste-to-energy facility.
  • Our canvas is produced without using optical brightening additives such as chlorine bleach or sodium hypochlorite which can be toxic to aquatic organisms.
  • We use noncarcinogenic water-based coatings on all of our lacquered prints.
  • The Epson printer we use in the production of our giclée prints is Energy Star compliant.

Kevin Sink Photography believes that the first, and most important step to effective, committed environmentalism is a deep affinity for the land. Without love for the land, we will not work and sacrifice for its preservation. Kevin Sink Photography will be successful if Kevin's images serve to inspire in the viewer a lasting bond to the natural world.
