Gallery

Located at 1817 Grand Boulevard in the Crossroads Arts District of downtown Kansas City, Missouri, the Kevin Sink Photography Gallery provides an oasis of nature in the heart of the city. Our gallery is strategically located between the shopping and hotel development of Crown Center and the new Power & Light entertainment district which includes the new Sprint Center arena.

The building in which our gallery is housed began its life in 1887 as a dry goods store, but in the ensuing years had fallen into disrepair. In 2008 Kevin Sink Photography began a major renovation in cooperation with our leasing company, Ehinger Properties. State of the art lighting, new walls and floors create an ideal ambience to showcase the photographic prints created here in the gallery. We have been proud to work cooperatively with Ehinger Properties to breathe new life into an historic Kansas City building. Recently we were honored to be selected as a finalist for the Kansas City Economic Development Corporation’s prestigious Cornerstone Award which recognizes economic development projects that have contributed to the growth and stability of the Kansas City economy.

Our gallery is open by appointment. We are happy to receive you.

Staff

Kevin Sink is a professional photographer specializing in natural and urban landscape photography and print making. A lifelong outdoor enthusiast, Kevin began photographing nature at age ten as an extension of his hobby of bird watching. His career as a fine-art landscape photographer combines his dual passions for art and nature.

Kevin's family was instrumental in inspiring his interest in the arts and the natural world. Throughout Kevin's childhood, his parents' creative endeavors fostered a warm, nurturing home life steeped in music and art. His father, Robert Sink, was an avid painter, singer and actor, who starred as Lieutenant Cable in the original touring production of "South Pacific". His mother, Vera Jean Sink, was also a professional singer. Years spent working and retreating to his grandparents’ farm instilled in Kevin his love of nature and his passion for the outdoors.

Kevin attained an M.A. in Physiology and Cell Biology from the University of Kansas with an interest in pursuing a career in medicine. He changed his planned career after some soul-searching lead him to discover that his true passion lay in exploring and documenting the pristine wilds of the natural world. In 1989, he founded his own fine art photography company.

Kevin’s current role at Kevin Sink Photography is centered around acquiring new images, and then working with the best of those images in the digital darkroom to create the final work seen by the public as prints or reproductions in publications. Kevin@kevinsink.com
